Last year, Chief Medical Editor Richard Lewis, MD, and I put together Glaucoma Today's first special edition. The January/February 2007 issue carried eight articles devoted to surgical topics in addition to several of the publication's usual columns. Our feeling was that readers would benefit from a focused grouping of articles that explored one theme in glaucoma. The response to our surgical edition was so overwhelmingly positive that Rick and I followed up with several articles devoted to diagnostic topics for GToday's November/December 2007 release, and we have another special edition planned for November/December 2008.

Our experience got us thinking. What if we published a focused series of articles more than once or twice a year? This installment of GToday includes three articles devoted to the subject of gonioscopy—an essential part of the glaucoma diagnosis that is unfortunately omitted by too many clinicians. John Hetherington, Jr, MD, provides a straightforward review of the examination. The second article in the series draws on the experience and insights of Wallace L. M. Alward, MD, to highlight the importance of gonioscopy in today's clinical practice. The Web site Dr. Alward created, www.gonioscopy.org, educates visitors about the examination through narrated videos. Finally, Donna McCune and Kevin Corcoran's article provides valuable information on reimbursement for gonioscopy.

Rick and I hope you find this edition of GToday informative and enjoyable. Let us know how you like the inclusion of a thematic series in the issue and share with us any other ideas you might have for making the publication more valuable to you.
