A Glaring Exception
The following letter is in response to the editorial by Richard A. Lewis, MD, titled "Gonioscopy Redefined" that appeared in our September/October 2008 edition.

I wish to thank Dr. Lewis for his fine editorial. As is sometimes usual with lists, there was, in my opinion, a glaring exception. In addition to being a quintessential academician, meticulous clinical scientist, and a role-model mentor, Max Forbes, MD, made one of the greater contributions to the field of gonioscopy in the 20th century. His article on indentation gonioscopy1 revolutionized the study of the anterior chamber angle and ranks as one of the more important contributions made in our field to improve the quality of care we give to our patients. It is as useful today as it was then, and I should think shall be so for a very, very long time.
