The EX-PRESS Glaucoma Filtration Device (Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Fort Worth, TX; Figure 1) represents an alternative approach to trabeculectomy that may provide glaucoma patients fewer postoperative complications and a quicker visual recovery. Although clinical experience with the EX-PRESS device is still accumulating, it is showing promising results in several recently published studies, as described herein.
At the International Congress on Glaucoma
Surgery symposium held in New Delhi in late
2010, noted clinicians described their use of the
EX-PRESS device as well as additional strategies to
enhance outcomes in some patients undergoing
filtration surgery after failed medical and laser
procedures. We hope you find this monograph
informative and relevant to your daily practice.
