Innovations in Glaucoma: The FYSX OPAP Device

John P. Berdahl, MD, inventor of the FYSX Ocular Pressure Adjusting Pump (Balance Ophthalmics), joins the set of Innovation Journal Club to share insights into the device, pearls for patient selection, and tips for using it in practice. Dr. Berdahl also discusses data from the pivotal trial of the FYSX device, which showed IOP lowering in 100% of eyes with normal-tension glaucoma.

Customizing Care and Minimizing Risk With MIGS

On GT: The Podcast, Reay H. Brown, MD, and Shibandri Das, MD, each present a scenario that highlights how minimally invasive procedures can be used to address specific obstacles in glaucoma management. The two patient cases were featured in their article, “Customizing Care and Minimizing Risk With MIGS,” which was written with Shivani Kamat, MD, and featured in the May/June 2026 issue of Glaucoma Today.

When a Minimally Invasive Procedure Fails

On MIGS Unplugged, hosts Iqbal Ike K. Ahmed, MD, FRCSC, and Arsham Sheybani, MD, sit down with Rachel G. Simpson, MD, to reflect on the role of trabeculectomy in today’s glaucoma treatment landscape. They discuss the importance of minimally invasive surgical approaches but emphasize the need to keep trabeculectomy from becoming a lost art. They consider what deters surgeons from performing the traditional procedure today and how to prepare for the incoming volume of patients who have undergone MIGS or minimally invasive bleb surgery and may require trabeculectomy.
